The Path of Least Resistance

There are those who seem to have no trouble finding the easiest way to get what they want. And these people are not just freeloaders. We find high achievers with incredible life navigation skills. Some folks just seem to have a sense of which road will get them to where they want to be with the least pain and hassle involved.

And then there are others. We know them. We may even be them.

We constantly run into roadblocks. We see obstacles to overcome, rather than opportunities to take advantage of. We hear ‘no’ more often than we hear ‘yes’. We often dream big, and then find that there is always more involved than we could have imagined.

But we’re taught that things of value must be fought for. That you have to prove yourself in order to deserve something. That you appreciate something more when you have had to work hard and sacrifice in order to get it. Is that true? I don’t necessarily believe it is. A hard day’s work can feel satisfying indeed, but what if you seem to work hard constantly to achieve something that has lost its shine once you get it?

Perhaps having to fight the fight, so to speak, is an indicator that we are not ready for what it is we’re seeking. Perhaps, when we are in fact ready for something, the path towards it will be a little easier, and that there will be more opportunities and fewer barriers.

In reality, who can enjoy the reward if you are exhausted by the effort to win it?
